Function
We are looking for a motivated professional to help evolve our iOS Engineering Platform. In this role, you will focus on improving developer experience, scalability, maintainability, and performance across our mobile ecosystem. With a strong engineering mindset and a focus on enablement, you will help teams deliver high-quality software faster and more efficiently.
As a Senior iOS Platform Engineer, you play a key role in shaping the technical foundations used across the ABN AMRO mobile landscape. You will build and maintain shared platform capabilities, define engineering standards, and develop tooling that supports multiple product teams. You take ownership of the iOS platform direction, contributing to the technical roadmap and evolution of shared capabilities.
You work closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure consistency, quality, and scalability across the app ecosystem. You actively drive adoption of platform solutions and guide teams through migrations across codebases. In addition, you contribute to Guild activities, collaborating with peers to share knowledge and best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

You will be working on:
– Building and maintaining shared platform capabilities for iOS development
– Improving modularisation, architecture, and engineering productivity across the codebase
– Developing internal SDKs, frameworks, and developer tooling
– Managing versioning, release processes, and distribution of internal SDKs and frameworks
– Driving performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability improvements across the mobile landscape
– Enabling development teams by improving developer experience and platform usability
– Collaborating proactively with teams to support adoption of platform solutions and guide migrations across codebases
Requirements
Must have:
– Extensive experience in Swift and iOS development (8+ years professional experience)
– Experience with large-scale modular architectures and codebase decomposition
– Experience designing and maintaining reusable developer solutions (SDKs, frameworks, libraries, CLI tools)
– Strong knowledge of concurrency (GCD, Combine or similar reactive frameworks, Swift Concurrency)
– Experience working with large engineering communities and driving standards across teams
– Experience improving developer productivity through tooling, CI/CD, and development workflows
– Experience profiling applications and resolving performance issues (memory, CPU, startup time)
– Experience modernizing legacy iOS codebases, including Objective-C and refactoring
– Strong communication skills with a proactive and collaborative mindset
– Ability to work independently and drive technical initiatives end-to-end
– Solid understanding of architectural patterns (e.g. Clean Architecture, VIPER, or similar patterns)
– Understanding of Accessibility standards and experience supporting Accessibility best practices across iOS applications
– Experience with UIKit and SwiftUI
Nice to have:
– Experience with modern build systems and project generation tools (Bazel, Buck, Tuist, XcodeGen, Swift Package Manager)
– Understanding of Accessibility standards and experience supporting Accessibility best practices across iOS Applications.
– Experience with observability, monitoring, and mobile telemetry
– Experience contributing to internal engineering platforms or shared infrastructure
– Experience applying AI-Assisted Engineering practices to improve development workflows
