20 May 2026 Cryptography Cryptography Amstelveen ZZP and / or Contracting

Introduction

  • 28 hours per week
  • Start date: ASAP
  • Duration: 1 year assignment with the possibility of extension
  • Hybrid way of work.
  • ZZP is possible.
  • Only residents of the Netherlands can apply. No relocation is possible.

Function

Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) involves developing cryptographic algorithms designed to secure digital systems against attacks from future quantum computers. Because powerful quantum computers will eventually break widely used public-key encryption (like RSA and ECC), the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has standardized quantum-resistant algorithms.

As a Process & Project Enabler you will ensure that the DevOps teams in ABN AMRO implement post-quantum cryptographic algorithms within their applications.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of projects related to Post-Quantum Cryptography standards, designs, implementation and integration.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including cryptographers, software engineers, and IT specialists, to ensure seamless integration of quantum-resistant protocols.
Monitor and manage project timelines, budgets, and risks to achieve successful outcomes.
Stay updated on advancements in Post-Quantum Cryptography and contribute insights to the team.
Develop and maintain documentation, reports, and presentations to communicate project progress to stakeholders.
Identify potential vulnerabilities in existing cryptographic systems and oversee transition strategies.

Requirements

Required skills and qualifications:

Educational background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Cryptography, or a related field.
Experience: Proven track record of managing complex technical projects, ideally in cybersecurity or cryptographic systems.
Cryptographic knowledge: Strong understanding of cryptographic algorithms, protocols, and principles, with familiarity in Post-Quantum Cryptography concepts being a significant advantage.
Project Management expertise: Certification in project management methodologies (e.g., PMP, Agile, Scrum) is highly desirable.
Problem solving: Ability to analyze complex systems and develop innovative solutions with attention to detail.
Communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with diverse stakeholders effectively.
Adaptability: Willingness to learn rapidly evolving technologies and adapt to new challenges.

Preferred skills:

Experience with quantum computing concepts and their implications for cybersecurity.
Knowledge of international cryptographic standards and compliance requirements.
Familiarity with NIST’s Post-Quantum Cryptography standardization efforts.
