Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced DevOps (Test) Engineer with a strong background in the telecom sector. The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge of various programming languages and testing methodologies and is capable of developing, maintaining, and elevating automated testing environments.
Within our department, we work in an agile environment. You will work within a self-organizing DevOps team (approximately 8 members) focusing on transitioning to new technology, network provisioning, automation, and virtualization. Our team consists of expert senior engineers with extensive knowledge and experience in the Mobile Provisioning chain and a 24/7 support mindset. Within the department, you will collaborate with colleagues within the Mobile Provisioning Chain.
• Testing:
o Develop and execute test plans and scripts for quality assurance.
o Perform functional tests, including API testing.
o Design and implement automation tests.
o Elevate regression tests in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define and implement test strategies.
• Analyze test results and report findings to stakeholders.
• Identify and resolve issues to ensure software quality.
• Take initiative to communicate with stakeholders.
Requirements
• At least 5 years of experience in software testing, with at least 3 years in the telecom sector. Experience in a mobile core ecosystem is a plus.
• Experience writing scripts for Windows machines.
• Familiarity with automation frameworks and tools.
• Extensive experience in quality assurance testing and functional testing.
• Strong analytical and logical thinking skills are a big plus.
• Proficiency in automation testing with Python, shell scripting, Jenkins, and CI/CD.
• Certification in manual (functional) testing like ISQBT or similar, and automation.
• Knowledge of SOAPUI/POSTMAN/Jenkins/Python/database/groovy/SQL.
• AWS certified (at least Cloud Practitioner)
• Telecom knowledge, mobile network call flows, 3GPP.
• Knowledge of Ericsson’s mobile core network (HLR/HSS, provisioning, 5G (UDM and UDR)) is a plus.
• Knowledge of mobile provisioning and number portability.
• Affinity with virtual and containerized network functions.
• Knowledge of / affinity with network security.
• Agile Mindset.
• Soft skills: Target and result-driven, proactive, team builder.
• Proficiency in English (Dutch is a plus).

Required Expertise: They are looking for someone with a different specialty within the team, specifically to assist with the testing environments. The previous team member was highly skilled in testing. They are looking for someone who can get up to speed very quickly.
Communication Skills: The candidate needs to communicate effectively across different levels to resolve issues. Communication is considered very important and is the starting point for problem-solving. The candidate should be able to handle changes in plans.
Transparency and Collaboration: Openness and transparency within the team, as well as actively helping other teams, are important.
Scripting Skills: Scripting skills are necessary to support the team. Knowledge and experience with AWS are a requirement.
Telecom Knowledge: Familiarity with the telecom sector is a plus, but strong testing skills are necessary.
Work Location and Frequency: Currently, the expectation is to work 1 day per week in the office in Rotterdam.
This may increase to 2 days per week once a definitive location is settled.
Since a part of the team is working from Groningen, it is also possible to submit a great candidate located in this region. Rotterdam is still the preferred location.
Availability: The preference is for someone available for 40 hours per week.
The possibility of on-call duty’s can be discussed when the assignment has already started.
Extension: There is a possibility of contract extension.
